Craniosacral Therapy

In response to physical knocks or emotional stress, the body’s tissues contract. Sometimes, particularly when shock is severe, the tissues stay contracted.

Any stresses, strains, tensions or traumas which have been stored in this way can restrict the body’s functioning and can give rise to problems years later. The effects can be both physical (back pain, migraine, digestive disorders) and emotional (anxiety and depression).

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle ‘hands on’ approach which identifies and treats pain or tension stored in the body. No manipulation of bones or soft tissues is involved. Instead it offers a subtle deep healing process focused on identifying and correcting the imbalances in the body’s natural rhythms.

What to expect at a session

At your first session an in depth medical history will be taken and discussed with you.

This is followed by hands on treatment. The treatment entails the patient lying down, fully clothed, whilst the therapist applies a light touch to palpate the head, feet, lower back or other regions of the body.

Any findings or feedback will be discussed at the end of the session and the need for further treatments will be assessed.

Can Craniosacral therapy help me?

Craniosacral therapy is so gentle that it is safe and suitable for people of all ages, from babies to the elderly and also in fragile or acutely painful conditions.

Excellent during pregnancy, after an operation, accident, fall or injury and for day to day stresses or depression.

It is well known for treating young babies who may have birth trauma from venteuse or forceps delivery, colic, sucking problems, teething, restlessness and irritability.

Young children and teenagers can also respond well especially during times of growth spurts, hormone surges and stresses during exams.
